LifePoint Hospitals adds new leadership position

Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Hospitals has named Melissa Waddey chief of staff, a newly created role.

In this position, Ms. Waddey will provide full-time leadership for multiple strategic projects. She will also lead the company’s strategic priorities pertaining to population health management, represent key stakeholders and coordinate project management for primary company initiatives across all departments. Additionally, Ms. Waddey will be charged with supporting the CEO’s efforts to promote LifePoint’s culture and priorities in its hospitals, among potential new hospital partners and with other company constituents.

Ms. Waddey has more than 15 years of hospital operations and strategy and service line development experience. Prior to joining LifePoint in 2010, she served for 11 years in a variety of operational leadership roles at Nashville, Tenn.-based Hospital Corporation of America. Most recently, she served as vice president of LifePoint’s strategic resource group, where she led the company’s healthcare reform initiatives, helped LifePoint’s hospital teams identify growth opportunities within their markets and headed key service line initiatives to promote process improvements across the company.
