11 recent hospital, health system CEO moves

The following hospital and health system CEO moves have been reported by Becker's since Nov. 30: 

1. Brian Argo, current COO of Conway (S.C.) Medical Center, will become CEO. He succeeds Bret Barr, who is transitioning to a role on the hospital's board of trustees. 

2. Caroline Wasielewski is no longer CEO of Tehachapi (Calif.) Valley Healthcare District, which owns Adventist Health Tehachapi Valley hospital. 

3. Anne Marie Lynch is no longer CEO of Anchorage, Alaska-based North Star Behavioral Health System, and is taking on a new role in Indiana. Patrick Wilder will succeed her. 

4. Zach Dietze was named CEO of UT Health East Texas' Tyler hospital. 

5. James Dahling, president and CEO of Hampton Roads, Va.-based Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters, will retire in 2023 after nearly 20 years in the role. Amy Sampson will succeed him. 

6. Jim Skogsbergh will serve alongside Eugene Woods, CEO of Advocate Health — a newly combined system resulting from the merger of Charlotte, N.C.-based Atrium Health and Downers Grove, Ill., and Milwaukee-based Advocate Aurora Health — until Mr. Skogsbergh's retirement in 18 months. At that point, Mr. Woods will continue as the system's sole CEO. 

7. Julie Freischlag, MD, was named CEO of Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist, as well as executive vice president and chief academic officer of Advocate Health. 

8. Kathy Donovan, MSN, RN, CEO of Children's Hospital of Michigan and Detroit Medical Center Group COO, is leaving the organization for personal reasons. Archie Drake, BSN, will serve as interim CEO for the children's hospital. 

9. Lily Henson, MD, has been promoted to president and CEO of the Piedmont Augusta (Ga.) hub. 

10. Scott Hill has been promoted to corporate senior vice president and CEO of the Piedmont Columbus hub. 

11. Leonard Stepp Jr. has been named interim CEO of Cleveland Clinic-affiliated Ashtabula (Ohio) County Medical Center Healthcare System. He succeeds Michael Habowski, who will retire in January.
