7 hospitals planning upgrades, expansions

The following hospitals announced or completed plans in the last week to expand, upgrade or renovate their facilities.

1. St. Luke’s deciding whether to build 80-bed hospital or repurpose 2 others: 6 notes
Bethlehem, Pa.-based St. Luke’s University Health Network is weighing a proposal to construct a new 80-bed hospital instead of renovating two nearby hospitals it acquired last year.

2. Huntsville Hospital plans $150M expansion
To accommodate growth in the area, Huntsville (Ala.) Hospital plans to invest $150 million in a new 72-bed patient tower.

3. JPS Health Network seeks $800M toward $1.2B in campus upgrades
Fort Worth, Texas-based Tarrant County Hospital District, which does business as JPS Health Network, is seeking voter approval for an $800 million bond proposal that would fund more than $1.2 billion in hospital upgrades.

4. Allegheny Health Network to break ground on 160-bed hospital: 4 things to know
Pittsburgh-based Allegheny Health Network will start construction Aug. 15 on its 160-bed hospital in Pine Township, Pa.,  part of its $1 billion systemwide expansion.

5. UHS, George Washington U to construct hospital
District of Columbia Mayor Muriel Bowser and George Washington University Hospital signed a letter of intent to build a new acute care hospital in the District.

6. Texas Health Presbyterian to double in size with $68M expansion
Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Allen is planning a $68 million expansion that will double its size to meet the increasing demand for services in Collin County.  

7. Houston Methodist unveils $700M patient tower
Houston Methodist opened its 22-story, $700 million patient tower Aug. 27.
