1. Reading, Pa.-based Penn State Health St. Joseph appointed Chris Newman, MD, vice president of medical affairs and CMO.
2. Jacksonville, Ill.-based Passavant Area Hospital President and CEO Doug Rahn will retire, effective Dec. 31.
3. Douglas Spotts, MD, will assume full-time CMIO duties at Evangelical Community Hospital in Lewisburg, Pa.
4. Mattoon, Ill.-based Sarah Bush Lincoln Health System appointed Jerry Esker president and CEO.
5. John Buffington, COO of San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington, N.M., will retire this month.
6. Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital in Valencia, Calif., added Kingman Ho, MD, to serve as vice president of professional services and CMO.
7. New York City-based Mount Sinai Beth Israel President Susan Somerville announced her resignation.
8. Appleton, Wis.-based ThedaCare President and CEO Dean Gruner, MD, plans to retire, ending his 40-year career in healthcare.
9. Mike Schatzlein, MD, president and CEO of Ascension's St. Vincent's HealthCare in Jacksonville, Fla., is leaving, effective Dec. 31.
10. PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver, Wash., announced its CMO Alden Roberts, MD, will depart, effective Oct. 31.
11. Placentia-Linda Hospital in Placentia, Calif., named Christina Oh CEO.
12. Wichita, Kan.-based Wesley Healthcare appointed Tripp Owings president and CEO of Wesley Woodlawn Hospital & ER, also in Wichita.
13. Estes Park (Colo.) Medical Center tapped Larry Leaming to serve as CEO, effective, Jan. 16, 2017.
14. Warrenton, Va.-based Fauquier Health President and CEO Roger H. Baker plans to retire in 2017.
15. Louisville, Ga.-based Jefferson Hospital CEO Steve Widener retired.
16. Dallas-based Baylor Scott & White Health appointed James H. Hinton president and CEO, effective Jan. 16, 2017.
17. Cleveland-based University Hospitals appointed M. Steven Jones president of UH Community Hospitals-East Region.
18. Chestatee Regional Hospital in Dahlonega, Ga., announced CEO Jim Yarborough is stepping down.
19. Nashville, Tenn.-based Saint Thomas Health named Andy Wachtel CEO of Saint Thomas DeKalb Hospital in Smithville, Saint Thomas Stones River Hospital in Woodbury and Saint Thomas Highlands Hospital in Sparta, all in Tennessee.
20. The Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle, Maine, a Brewer-based Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems hospital, appointed Gregory T. LaFrancois president, effective Nov. 14.
