San Juan Regional Medical Center COO John Buffington to retire: 4 notes

John Buffington, COO of San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington, N.M., will retire this month.

Here are four notes:

1. Mr. Buffington has served the hospital and the local medical community for 40 years.

2. During his tenure, Mr. Buffington helped expand the hospital’s medical services and brought the San Juan Health Partners Walk-In Clinic to Bloomfield, N.M.

3. He also briefly served as the hospitals’ acting CEO in 2009.

4. According to a Farmington Daily Times report, the hospital will not fill the COO role after Mr. Buffington’s departure and his duties will be redistributed through a new organizational structure.
