Eli Lilly to open Research Triangle plant, hire 462 workers by 2027

Eli Lilly plans to add 462 jobs in Durham County, N.C., by 2027, and will get $12.4 million in incentives from the state, The News & Observer reported.

The drug giant will open a facility in Research Triangle Park, which it plans to invest $474 million in by 2025. 

The jobs will be in manufacturing, assembly and packaging and will pay an average minimum wage of $71,756 per year, according to The News & Observer. The average annual salary in Durham is $65,152. 

The facility will manufacture Trulicity and Tirzepatide, both designed to treat Type 2 diabetes.

Eli Lilly plans to start hiring a significant number of employees for the facility in 2023, according to The News & Observer
