10 payer-provider disputes, resolutions in September

Becker's Hospital Review reported these 10 contract resolutions and dissolutions between payers and providers in September, beginning with the most recent.

1. Hendrick Health System, BCBS in contract spat
Abilene, Texas-based Hendrick Health System is disputing its contract with BlueCross BlueShield of Texas in Richardson.

2. Vanderbilt Health, Aetna launch ACO health plan
Vanderbilt Health Affiliated Network, a Nashville, Tenn.-based organization of physicians, health systems and employers, rolled out an accountable care product with Hartford, Conn.-based Aetna.  

3. Lovelace medical group to drop Presbyterian Health Plan
Albuquerque, N.M.-based Lovelace Medical Group/Southwest Medical Associates will end its evergreen contract with Presbyterian Health Plan, also in Albuquerque, Jan. 1. 

4. Mission Health president does not expect a BCBS agreement in 2017
President and CEO of Asheville, N.C.-based Mission Health System Ron Paulus, MD, told Citizen-Times negotiations between the health system and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina in Durham are nonexistent.  

5. Highmark adds 450 Pennsylvania physicians to value-based network
Medical Group of Pennsylvaniain Harrisburg will participate in Camp Hill, Pa.-based Highmark Blue Shield's value-based reimbursement model. 

6. Mayo Clinic joins Security Health Plan's provider network, partners for employer product
Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic Health System providers in Wisconsin and Minnesota are now considered in-network for Marshfield, Wis.-based Security Health Plan's policyholders.

7. Ochsner Health System, BCBS of Louisiana to offer joint health plan
New Orleans-based Ochsner Health System and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana partnered to provide a joint health plan.

8. Northwest Health, UnitedHealthcare rate negotiations stall
Between 100 and 200 Springdale, Ark.-based Northwest Health physicians went out-of-network with UnitedHealthcare Aug. 1 following a contract dispute that could affect the network status of the system's hospitals if unresolved.

9. CarePoint Health, Horizon BCBS resolve $76M billing dispute
Jersey City, N.J.-based CarePoint Health and Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield resolved a more than 2-year-old contract dispute and $76 million lawsuit over billing.

10. Mission Health joins WellCare's provider network
Managed care company WellCare of North Carolina, a subsidiary of Tampa, Fla.-based WellCare Health Plans, added Asheville, N.C.-based Mission Health System to its provider network Aug. 28.
