Here are 35 new medical education programs or schools announced or launched in 2015, beginning with the most recent.

1. UNC-Chapel Hill to roll out new PA program for veterans
To help troops with medical experience find jobs, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is launching a physician assistant program targeted toward veterans, according to WFAE radio.

2. A private medical school in Montana? Officials say the idea's not dead
A new private, for-profit medical school could still be a possibility in Montana despite earlier concerns from regional leaders and educators, according to the Great Falls Tribune.

3. Kaiser Permanente to open medical school in Southern California
Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente plans to open a medical school in Southern California, set to open in fall 2019, according to the Los Angeles Times.

4. Valley Health System adds 8 residency programs
Las Vegas-based Valley Health System is launching eight new residency programs in Southern Nevada set to begin by July 1, 2017, according to the Las Vegas Review Journal.

5. Oregon Health & Sciences University opens second rural medical school campus
Portland-based Oregon Health & Sciences University opened its Rural Campus Academic Headquarters in Klamath Falls Oct. 19, according to The Associated Press.

6. UCF partners with HCA to open 550 residency slots
The second largest university in the nation, Orlando-based University of Central Florida, and one of the largest hospital networks, Nashville-based Hospital Corporation of America, joined forces to add a considerable number of medical residency slots in Florida.

7. Montefiore to launch 1st preventive medicine residency with integrative health focus
New York City-based Montefiore Health System received a $1.2 million grant from HHS' Health Resources and Services Administration to develop and implement a preventive medicine residency program, which is slated to launch in July 2016.

8. Utah to open 2nd medical school
Parker, Colo.-based Rocky Vista University of Osteopathic Medicine is opening the Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine-Southern Utah in Ivins City in August 2017, according to St. George News.

9. Midwestern University, Mountain Vista team up for new fellowship
Glendale, Ariz.-based Midwestern University and Mesa, Ariz.-based Mountain Vista Medical Center are set to launch a fourth postdoctoral fellowship together in July 2016, according to the Phoenix Business Journal.

10. Minnesota seeks to open for-profit osteopathic medical college
The Gaylord-based Minnesota College of Osteopathic Medicine plans to open in the fall of 2018.

11. Cleveland Clinic-affiliated OU medical school opens
OhioUniversity's Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine opened a new facility at Cleveland Clinic South Pointe Hospital, according to The Post.

12. Indiana University trustees approve Evansville medical school
The Bloomington-based Indiana University board of trustees approved a new medical school in Evansville, according to the Indianapolis Business Journal.

13. Michigan State University, hospital form new medical school campus
East Lansing-based Michigan State University partnered with Novi, Mich.-based Providence-Providence Park Hospital to create a new medical school campus in southeast Michigan, according to The Detroit News.

14. New medical school to open in Harlem, NY
The City University of New York will open a new medical school in Harlem, New York, according to a Crain's New York Business report. The CUNY School of Medicine, which will be located on the CityCollege campus, was accredited July 14.

15. Ohio University opens medical school at South Pointe Hospital
Ohio University's Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine extended its campus to include a new medical school at Cleveland Clinic's Warrensville Heights, Ohio-based South Pointe Hospital, according to a Cleveland.com report.

16. University of North Texas announces medical school partnership
The University of North Texas Health Science Center and Texas Christian University, both located in Fort Worth, partnered to open a new medical school by 2018, according to a Denton Record-Chronicle report. The universities have yet to choose a name for the medical school.

17.Valley Children's, Stanford partner to launch pediatric residency
Madera, Calif.-based Valley Children's Healthcare and Stanford (Calif.) University School of Medicine announced a partnership to establish a pediatric residency and fellowship program.

18. $27M approved for new medical school in Las Vegas
The Nevada Assembly approved a new University of Nevada, Las Vegas medical school with $27 million in funding, according to the Las Vegas Sun.

19. Mayo Medical School branching out to Arizona, Florida
Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Medical School will double the size of its enrolling class starting in 2017. The medical school announced it received endorsement to expand and establish two branch campuses in Scottsdale, Ariz., and Jacksonville, Fla.

20. New medical school campus to open in Joplin
Kansas City (Mo.) University of Medicine and Biosciences' College of Osteopathic Medicine announced its plans were approved to open a new Joplin, Mo., medical campus.

21. Lawmakers lift 98-year restriction for WSU to open new medical school
Washington state senators approved a bill to lift a 98-year-old restriction barring Pullman-based Washington State University from opening a public medical school in the state, according to The Seattle Times. WSU is able to open a medical school in Spokane, Wash., which is slated to open in 2017.

Construction began on New Mexico's second medical school: the $105 million Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces.

The Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Harvard's T.H. Chan School of Public Health in Boston approved a new population health sciences PhD program.

24. Tulane to offer accelerated dual MD-MBA program
New Orleans-based Tulane University School of Medicine and its A.B. Freeman School of Business announced the launch of a new, accelerated MD-MBA program.

Cleveland Clinic is now offering a new one-year residency program for nurses to transition from school into full-time clinical care.

31. Athens Regional to host 45-resident training program
Athens (Ga.) Regional Medical Center announced it earned accreditation to launch a three-year internal medicine residency program, which will provide slots for 45 residents, with 15 residents training each year.

32. First osteopathic emergency medicine residency in North Carolina approved
Campbell University's Lillington, N.C.-based Jerry M. Wallace School of Osteopathic Medicine and Lumberton, N.C.-based Southeastern Health received full accreditation from the American Osteopathic Association for its emergency medicine residency program.

33. Yale to offer online PA program
New Haven, Conn.-based Yale School of Medicine announced plans to launch a new blended physician assistant program, which incorporates online training with clinical clerkships.
