This program will be the first in the U.S. to have a focus on integrative health. The program is slated to launch in July 2016 with two residents. In collaboration with Lehman College, participants will also earn a Master of Public Health in the program.
“This grant from HRSA aligns with the goals of Montefiore’s approach to population health and is an important example of having a close relationship between translational science and education.” William Jordan, MD, director of the new program, co-director of medical student education in Montefiore’s department of family and social medicine, assistant professor in Albert Einstein College of Medicine’s department of family and social medicine, said in a statement. “We are delighted to develop the Preventive Medicine residency program and to welcome our first residents in just a few months.”
Students will also complete a social medicine project and develop a background in epidemiology and data analysis through the residency.
