UAB Health System appoints first primary care chief: 3 points

University of Alabama at Birmingham Health System has selected Stuart J. Cohen, MD, to serve as its first chief of primary care.

Three points:

1. Dr. Cohen is a professor of medicine at UAB and previously served as medical director for UAB Primary Care, a department with 47 physicians, 14 advanced practice practitioners and 140 staff members.

2. An internal medicine specialist, he joined the UAB faculty in 1998.

3. Dr. Cohen is a fellow in the American College of Physicians.
