OHSU names Dr. Sharon Anderson medical school dean

Portland-based Oregon Health & Science University tapped Sharon Anderson, MD, to serve as OHSU executive vice president and dean of OHSU School of Medicine. She will assume her new roles on July 5.

Dr. Anderson is currently OHSU’s department of medicine chair. She will continue as department of medicine chair until her replacement is identified.

Previously, she worked as chief of medical service at VA Portland Health Care System, where she still holds a staff position. A nephrologist by training, she completed a research fellowship at Boston-based Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She held a faculty appointment at Brigham and Women’s after her fellowship.

Dr. Anderson succeeds John Hunter, MD, who is leaving the role to serve as chief clinical officer of the organization.
