MultiCare Health System names Dr. David O’Brien chief executive of its East Region

Tacoma, Wash.-based MultiCare Health System hired David O’Brien, MD, as its new senior vice president and chief executive of the East Region, effective June 19. The East Region includes Spokane, Wash.-based Rockwood Health System, which will become a part of the MultiCare family by mid-June.

Dr. O’Brien currently serves as president of Eureka, Calif.-based St. Joseph Health-Humboldt County. He has previously served as senior vice president/COO of St. Mary Medical Center in Apple Valley, Calif. A family medicine physician, he practiced in Eureka for 14 years.

One of Dr. O’Brien’s responsibilities will be to enhance coordination in the eastern Washington area and build an integrated health system. Rockwood Health System’s three healthcare facilities currently operate as separate entities.
