HCA's latest hospital executive appointments

Stephen Chandler was appointed CEO of Summerville (S.C.) Medical Center, part of Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare. 

Mr. Chandler brings more than a decade of healthcare administration experience to the role, according to a Nov. 20 hospital news release.

His most recent experience includes serving as COO of HCA's Henrico Doctors' Hospital in Richmond, Va. He also has three years of policy and legislative experience in Washington, D.C.

Summerville Medical Center is part of Charleston, S.C.-based Trident Health, a 445-bed HCA hospital system with two acute care hospitals and three freestanding emergency departments.

Becker's also recently reported several other executive appointments at HCA hospitals.

Alejandro Romero is the new COO of El Paso, Texas-based Del Sol Medical Center, an HCA affiliate. Brooksville-based HCA Florida Oak Hill Hospital appointed Samuel Boadi COO. Walter Long was named COO of HCA Florida Lake City Hospital. Christina Mathis is the new CEO of Medical City Frisco (Texas), a 98-bed hospital within a 16-hospital group in the area that is part of HCA. Additionally, HCA Florida Highlands Hospital in Sebring appointed Henry Capote CFO.

Mr. Romero previously served as CEO of HCA Florida Poinciana Hospital in Kissimmee. Mr. Boadi joined HCA Florida Oak Hill Hospital from HCA Florida Lake City Hospital, where he served as its COO. Mr. Long previously served as vice president of operations at HCA Florida West Hospital in Pensacola. Before assuming her new role, Ms. Mathis served as COO of Medical City Plano (Texas). Mr. Capote most recently served as CFO of Coral Gables (Fla.) Hospital, an affiliate of Dallas-based Steward Health Care.
