An internal email said that Dr. Van Bree is leaving to accommodate the growing partnership between Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and Catholic Health Initiatives. St. Luke’s Health System was purchased by Englewood, Colo.-based CHI in May.

Baylor and CHI announced last week that they had signed a letter of intent to enter formal negotiations to become clinical partners. The internal email mentioned that Dr. Van Bree decided to step down from her post to allow Baylor and CHI to collaborate on finding a new leader, according to the report.
