DeTar Healthcare System CEO to retire at year-end: 5 things to know

Victoria, Texas-based DeTar Healthcare System CEO William R. Blanchard will retire at the end of 2017, according to a Victoria Advocate report.

Here are five things to know:

1. Mr. Blanchard assumed his current role in 1990.

2. During his tenure, he helped spearhead a strategic affiliation with University of Texas Physicians Group in Houston for access to experienced cardiovascular surgeons.

3. He also led DeTar’s collaboration with Texas A&M Health Science Center in Bryan, Texas, that resulted in creation of the DeTar’s family medicine residency program.

4. He serves on the Texas Hospital Association’s board of trustees as well as on the American Hospital Association’s Regional Policy Board.

5. George Parsley, COO at DeTar, will take over as interim CEO.
