South Bend, Ind.-based Beacon Health System said Oct. 23 that it is redesigning the current administrator role and establishing local president roles at its Allegan and Dowagiac hospitals in southwest Michigan.

In a news release shared with Becker’s, the health system attributed the move to a need to strengthen local leadership and enhance service delivery.

Greg Piper, vice president of Beacon Retail Services, was appointed interim president of Beacon Allegan, while David Bailey, president of Community Hospital of Bremen (Ind.), will serve as interim president of Beacon Dowagiac.

Mr. Piper and Mr. Bailey will remain in their current roles and provide executive oversight for the health system’s Plainwell hospital in Michigan as Beacon implements its new leadership structure, according to the release.

Paul Hoffman, administrator for the three southwest Michigan hospitals, will leave Beacon Health System Oct. 31.

“Paul has provided valuable leadership during the integration of these hospitals into Beacon, and we wish him well in his future endeavors,” the health system said.

All changes take effect Nov. 1. In July, Beacon acquired Ascension Southwest Michigan, including the Allegan, Dowagiac and Plainwell hospitals.
