Epic’s momentum continued in June as the EHR giant added new customers, expanded its AI capabilities, advanced large-scale implementations and shared its vision for the future through comments from founder and CEO Judy Faulkner.

- Pensacola, Fla.-based Baptist Health Care announced plans to move to an Epic EHR system by 2028.
- In a June 23 interview at Aspen Ideas: Health in Colorado, Epic founder and CEO Judy Faulkner said she believes AI will augment rather than replace physicians by helping them detect patterns and identify diagnoses they might otherwise miss. She highlighted tools such as sepsis detection and Epic’s Cosmos database as examples of AI improving clinical decision-making while keeping physicians at the center of care.
- Epic reported that health systems are seeing gains with Teamwork, the first application in its EpicOps ERP suite, including faster provider scheduling and real-time updates to clinician availability. The company plans to expand EpicOps with workforce, supply chain and financial tools that tie operational data directly to the clinical record, positioning it to compete with Oracle and Workday.
- Baptist Health was among the first health systems to implement Epic’s AI Build Assistant, which uses AI to speed Epic development, streamline build processes and support analysts. The rollout reflects Epic’s broader AI strategy, with the company expecting to offer more than 150 AI features in 2025 and additional enhancements in 2026.
- Epic Staffing Group agreed to rebrand under a confidential settlement resolving a trademark lawsuit filed by Epic, which argued the staffing firm’s name caused customer confusion. The agreement ends the case, with both companies saying they amicably resolved the dispute and will cover their own legal costs.
- Ms. Faulkner ranked No. 3 on Forbes’ 2026 list of America’s Richest Self-Made Women with an estimated net worth of $9.6 billion, up nearly $1.8 billion from a year earlier. Forbes also highlighted Epic’s continued growth and Ms. Faulkner’s longstanding commitment to philanthropy, including her pledge to give away 99% of her wealth.
- New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Northwell Health’s firearm injury risk screening tool has been incorporated into Epic’s May 2026 software release, making the evidence-based workflow available to health systems nationwide. The integration builds on years of Northwell research showing firearm safety screening can be successfully embedded into routine clinical care through EHR workflows.
- Buffalo, N.Y.-based Kaleida Health launched a systemwide Epic EHR platform May 30, consolidating 13 legacy EHRs into a single, unified system across all its facilities.
- Chicago-based CommonSpirit Health’s executives said during the health system’s May 29 investor call that it is moving faster than planned toward a single Epic EHR, with 65% of the system now live and a 2030 full-conversion target. The effort is part of its broader “One CommonSpirit” strategy to standardize technology and operations, including a Workday ERP rollout and a systemwide push to improve financial performance.
- New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Northwell Health completed the second and largest wave of its multiyear Epic EHR rollout, expanding the platform to 42,000 users across nine hospitals in its Central Region. The health system said the implementation brings it closer to a single enterprise EHR designed to improve care coordination, streamline workflows and enhance the patient experience.
- In a June 1 blog post, Ms. Faulkner said the company’s Care Everywhere interoperability platform has improved patient care by enabling the exchange of 26 million patient records each day across healthcare organizations. She cited evidence linking the technology to fewer care gaps, unnecessary imaging orders and code blue events, arguing Epic’s interoperability efforts have saved lives.
