The hospital added the center due to a growing demand for specialized wound care. The clinic will offer treatment of chronic wounds, diabetic foot ulcers, venous stasis ulcers and ostomy care.

“This program meets the needs of patients who aren’t sick enough to be in the hospital and don’t qualify for home healthcare but, at the same time, require highly specialized care,” Nan Boutin, RN, an employee at Brewer-based Eastern Maine Healthcare System who helped create the specialty clinic, told the Ellsworth American.
