Roanoke, Va.-based Carilion Clinic has purchased land that is part of Huckleberry Park in Christiansburg, Va., finalizing the deal Oct. 28, the health system confirmed to Becker’s.
The Christiansburg Town Council voted 6-0 on Oct. 27 to approve the $5 million sale of two parcels totaling more than five 5 at the front of the park, Cardinal News reported. The town had planned to sell one or more parcels to offset the cost of the park, which opened in 2023, Mayor Mike Barber told the news outlet.
Carilion has not finalized plans for the property. The health system is exploring opportunities to expand access to ambulatory services, including imaging and other outpatient care, it said in a statement shared with Becker’s. Plans remain subject to state approval.
“Carilion Clinic has a long history of serving Christiansburg and the greater New River Valley, and we remain committed to meeting the evolving health needs of the communities we serve,” the health system said.
