Fortune released its 2026 list of the best large workplaces in healthcare on Oct. 13, with San Diego-based Scripps Health ranked No. 1.

Fortune partnered with people analytics firm Great Place to Work on the ranking. It is based on survey feedback from nearly 222,000 U.S. employees at eligible organizations. Employees rated 60 statements on a five-point scale and answered two open-ended questions about workplace culture, including trust in leadership, fairness, pride in their work and connection with colleagues. Rankings reflect how broadly positive experiences are shared across an organization’s full workforce. Companies where more employees report consistently strong cultures rank higher.

To be eligible, companies had to be Great Place to Work-certified and in the healthcare industry. Only companies with 1,000 or more U.S. employees were considered for the large category.

The list includes hospitals and health systems as well as payers, staffing firms and other healthcare companies.
