9 hospitals planning facility upgrades, expansions

The following hospitals announced or completed plans in the last week to expand, upgrade or renovate their facilities.  

1. Jersey Shore University Medical Center to open 10-story, $256M patient tower
Pending final approval from the New Jersey Health Department, Neptune City-based Jersey Shore University Medical Center will open its 10-story tower to patients the week of June 18.

2. Sentara Norfolk nears completion of $199M expansion: 3 things to know
Sentara Norfolk (Va.) General Hospital will wrap up construction of its $199 million expansion project by the end of June.

3. Court OKs $150M Georgia hospital after 3-year battle
After more than three years of legal pushback, a Georgia court has ruled Augusta (Ga.) University Medical Center can build a $150 million, 100-bed hospital in Columbia County.

4. Atrium Health to spend $1B on capital projects: 6 things to know
Charlotte, N.C.-based Atrium Health plans to spend more than $1 billion to upgrade and expand several facilities in its network — representing the largest capital investment in the health system's history.

5. Banner Health to build 120-bed hospital
Phoenix-based Banner Health soon will begin construction on a four-story, 120-bed hospital in Chandler, Ariz.

6. Intermountain releases details of $150M hospital: 4 things to know
Salt Lake City-based Intermountain Healthcare released details June 11 of its planned $150 million Spanish Fork (Utah) Hospital. 

7. IU Health starts construction of $400M hospital, academic complex
Bloomington-based Indiana University Health began construction of its $400 million, 735,000-square-foot Regional Academic Health Center. 

8. U of Kansas Health System opens $100M hospital
Kansas City-based University of Kansas Health System opened a $100 million hospital June 11 on its Indian Creek Campus based in Overland Park, Kan. 

9. Children's Healthcare of Atlanta advances plan for $1.5B campus: 5 things to know
Children's Healthcare of Atlanta filed a letter of intent with the state of Georgia to obtain a certificate of need — the first step toward breaking ground on its proposed $1.5 billion construction project.
