UCLA Health will add 103 beds to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles through a $20 million gift from Laurie and Steven Gordon.
Five things to know:
1. The gift, committed through the couple’s family foundation in October 2025, will fund renovations to the hospital’s fourth floor, according to a Sept. 10 news release from UCLA Health.
2. The space is currently occupied by the Stewart and Lynda Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital at UCLA, which will relocate to the new UCLA Resnick Mental Health Campus this fall.
3. Once renovated, the fourth floor will house 103 additional beds for adult and pediatric critical and acute care, increasing Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center’s capacity by 23%. The space has been named the Laurie and Steven C. Gordon Pavilion.
4. UCLA Health said demand for inpatient services has steadily increased since the COVID-19 pandemic. The additional capacity is expected to support services including children’s health, psychiatric emergency care, transplantation, heart surgery and other cardiac interventions and stroke care.
5. The Gordons’ latest contribution follows more than $30 million in previous donations to UCLA. That includes a $25 million gift in 2018 supporting Parkinson’s disease research.
