Mayo Clinic Laboratories is planning to build a $30 million testing facility in Southaven, Miss.

The lab will perform diagnostic testing for hospitals and other clients from the new site, which is expected to create 234 new jobs, according to a Sept. 9 notice from the Mississippi Development Authority.

The facility is located near the Memphis International Airport and the FedEx World Hub.

“Mayo Clinic Laboratories is growing, and to better meet the needs of our clients, we will be expanding our footprint with a new laboratory facility,” the company said in a statement on its website. “This location was selected to support efficient national logistics and strengthen our ability to serve clients.”

The state is supporting the project through the Mississippi Flexible Tax Incentive and Health Care Industry Zone Incentive programs. The city of Southaven and DeSoto County, Miss., are also assisting with the project.

Mayo Clinic Laboratories provides advanced diagnostic testing and laboratory services for clinicians, hospitals and healthcare systems worldwide.
