Hospitals, health systems enhancing their EHRs

Hospitals and health systems are adding new software, tools and tech upgrades to their EHRs to build upon their systems' offerings.

Here are five health systems adding enhancements to their EHR systems:

  • Duluth, Minn.-based Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center selected digital patient engagement company Sonifi Health to integrate with its Epic EHR and give patients access to information about the hospital and its clinicians from their TV.

  • Greenville, S.C.-based Prisma Health is integrating virtual care tools from HealthSnap into its Epic EHR system.

  • New Orleans-based Ochsner Health is partnering with digital health company Junum to integrate its malnutrition clinical support tool within its Epic EHR. The tool can help organize and deliver nutrition insights for clinicians directly within the EHR.

  • Atlanta-based Emory Healthcare is deploying virtual support services within its Epic EHR through a partnership with professional resourcing company Experis. The virtual support aims to help Emory clinicians easily navigate through Epic.

  • New York City-based NYU Langone's Perlmutter Cancer Center is aiming to eliminate disparities in LGBT healthcare by collecting information on patient sexual orientation and gender identity in its Epic EHR. The campaign is being worked on by clinicians at the Institute for Excellence in Health Equity and NYU Langone's Medical Center.
