Microsoft’s healthcare ambitions have extended well beyond AI scribes in 2026, spanning cybersecurity, clinical documentation, consumer health tools, payer-provider operations and neurological care.

- In June, Microsoft entered into a collaboration with Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic to develop a frontier AI model purpose-built for healthcare.
- In May, the tech giant launched a preview version of Copilot Health, an AI-powered platform that allows users to aggregate health records, wearable device data and other personal health information in one place. Copilot Health enables users to build personal health profiles, connect Apple Health data and access records from more than 50,000 U.S. provider organizations.
- In a May 19 blog post, Microsoft announced it interrupted Fox Fox Tempest’s malware-signing-as-a-service, which cybercriminals have employed to distribute malicious code. Fox Tempest reportedly enabled threat actors to deploy Rhysida ransomware, which has been used in healthcare cyberattacks.
- In a phishing campaign, the tech giant found that healthcare was the most targeted industry.
- Bethlehem, Pa.-based St. Luke’s University Health Network reported saving nearly 200 hours a month and automatically resolving thousands of false cyber threats with Microsoft Security Copilot.
- In March, Optum announced it would be expanding its collaboration with Microsoft to introduce new AI-powered capabilities within Optum Real, a real-time claims platform designed to connect payers and providers and streamline reimbursement workflows.
- Microsoft unveiled new capabilities for its Dragon Copilot AI clinical assistant, including tools designed to integrate workplace context, partner-developed AI applications and expanded role-based workflows for clinicians.
- In March, the tech giant found that nearly 1 in 5 people who turn to Microsoft Copilot for health information discuss personal symptoms or conditions.
- In January, Microsoft announced that it was working with augmented reality startup Strolll and Cleveland Clinic to develop a solution to help patients with Parkinson’s disease overcome gait freezing.
