Microsoft unveiled new capabilities for its Dragon Copilot AI clinical assistant, including tools designed to integrate workplace context, partner-developed AI applications and expanded role-based workflows for clinicians.

- The updates include the ability to surface work-related information alongside patient data for organizations using Microsoft 365 Copilot, as well as AI apps and agents from partners available through Microsoft Marketplace. These partner solutions — from companies including Canary Speech, Humata Health, Optum and Regard — provide capabilities related to clinical insights, revenue cycle management, prior authorization and clinical decision support, the company said in a March 5 news release.
- Dragon Copilot also includes expanded role-based experiences for physicians, nurses and radiologists designed to scale across care settings and geographies.
- More than 100,000 clinicians currently use Dragon Copilot in their daily practice, supporting care for millions of patients each month, Microsoft said.
- The system is designed to unify information from multiple sources, including patient data such as diagnoses, medications and lab results as well as organizational content like policies and schedules. Clinicians can query, summarize and create documentation using voice or text without switching between systems.
- Additional capabilities include proactive ICD-10 coding suggestions, automated referral letters and after-visit summaries, tools to start documentation using prior notes and multilingual conversation capture that can record patient encounters in 58 languages and convert them into clinical notes.
Dragon Copilot is currently available in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany, Austria, Belgium and the Netherlands, according to the press release.
