43 heart centers opening, expanding in 2024

Here are 43 heart centers opening, upgrading or expanding this year:

  1. Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Sanford Health opened a new, expanded heart and vascular center in Bemidji, Minn.

  2. Davie-based HCA Florida University Hospital opened a new electrophysiology lab and is the first in the country to use new technology in the lab.

  3. Nancy Hua, DO, opened a direct heart-care cardiology practice Billings, Mont.

  4. Sulphur Springs, Texas-based Christus Health will expand its services and open a new cardiology location.

  5. Portland-based MaineHealth unveiled its $378 million addition to the Maine Medical Center.

  6. Evanston, Ill.-based Endeavor Health opened its Cardiovascular Institute at Glenbrook Hospital in Glenview, Ill.

  7. Chesapeake (Va.) Regional Healthcare surgeons recently performed the system's first open-heart surgery, marking the launch of its new cardiac surgery program. 

  8. MemorialCare launched its Women's Heart Center at the Long Beach, Calif.-based MemorialCare Heart & Vascular Institute. 

  9. Walla Walla, Wash.-based Providence St. Mary Medical Center is renovating its cardiac cath lab.

  10. Poughkeepsie, N.Y.-based Vassar Brothers Medical Center opened its new cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology laboratory.

  11. The Naperville, Ill., planning and zoning commission has approved a zoning change that would allow Downers Grove, Ill.-based Advocate Health Care to open a cardiology ASC in a former LA Fitness building.

  12. WVU Medicine is expanding its advanced cardiac services with the launch of an open-heart surgery program at its Thomas Hospitals in South Charleston, W.Va.

  13. AdventHealth Medical Group is set to open a cardiology practice in Dalton, Ga.

  14. Englewood (N.J.) Health and New York City-based ColumbiaDoctors are collaborating to provide consultations to advanced heart failure patients hospitalized at Englewood Hospital. 

  15. Evanston, Ill.-based Endeavor Health is discontinuing open-heart surgeries at two hospitals as it plans to open a cardiovascular institute at another of its hospitals in May. Once open, all heart surgeries will take place at Glenbrook Hospital in Glenview, Ill.

  16. Columbus-based OhioHealth Physician Group, in partnership with OhioHealth Marion General Hospital, invested $8.7 million to renovate and relocate two clinics, one for heart and vascular and the other for primary care.

  17. Atlanta-based Emory University Hospital completed its $87.7 million heart and vascular expansion.

  18. St. David’s Georgetown (Texas) Hospital will open a new cardiac catheterization lab and outpatient cardiovascular imaging center in October.

  19. Oklahoma City-based Oklahoma Children's Hospital is the first in the state to open a pediatric heart transplant program.

  20. Baltimore’s MedStar Union Memorial Hospital opened its integrated heart services center.

  21. New York City-based Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons launched its $50 million pediatric cardiovascular innovation center.

  22. Findley, Ohio-based Blanchard Valley Health System is cutting its open-heart surgery program and will instead transfer patients to other systems as needed.

  23. Tampa General Hospital opened its new Heart and Vascular Institute in Sun City Center.

  24. Neptune City, N.J.-based Hackensack Meridian Health Jersey Shore University Medical Center is investing $45 million to expand its cardiovascular suite.

  25. Upland, Pa.-based Crozer Health has partnered with Nemours Children's Health, Delaware Valley, to expand pediatric cardiology services in the region.

  26. York, Pa.-based WellSpan Health is expanding vascular surgery services in four cities by adding four vascular surgeons and three satellite offices.

  27. Johnstown, Pa.-based Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center completed its Cardiovascular and Surgical Care Pavilion.

  28. Holy Cross Health in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., opened a third cardiac catheterization laboratory.

  29. Children's Hospital Los Angeles opened its new fetal cardiac clinic.

  30. Watertown, N.Y.-based Samaritan Medical added cardiology services through the acquisition of Cardiology Associates of Northern New York, now known as Samaritan Cardiology.

  31. Marlton, N.J.-based Virtua Health established an advanced heart failure center in Camden.

  32. Fountain Valley, Calif.-based MemorialCare launched its Women's Heart Center at the MemorialCare Heart & Vascular Institute.

  33. Utica-based Central New York Cardiology opened a new, expanded office building with high-tech equipment and the only cardiac PET scan machine in the region.

  34. Ronnie Garcia, MD, reopened his cardiology practice, Baptist Medical Network-Cardiology-Seguin (Texas), formerly Mission Cardiovascular Consultants, in a new, larger location.

  35. First Coast Cardiovascular Institute partnered with CardioHealth, a Jacksonville, Fla.-based practice specializing in hypertension, congestive heart failure, atrial fibrillation and valvular heart disease.

  36. AdventHealth Medical Group is opening a cardiology clinic location in Trion, Ga.

  37. UNC Health Pardee is set to open a cardiology practice in Pisgah Forest, N.C.
