Mr. McConnell previously secured $75 million for the project in 2008 and $450 million in subsequent years. The $400 million included in President Trump’s 2020 budget will cover the rest of the hospital’s costs.

A site has not been designated for the Robley Rex VA Medical Center.

“I want to thank President Trump for his assurance that my request to fully fund the Robley Rex VA Medical Center will be included in his budget, and I am proud to work with him to support Kentucky’s veterans,” said Mr. McConnell. “This has been a long time coming, but this is a huge step forward for this important project.”
