Putnam Hospital Center starts $9M ED expansion

Carmel Hamlet, N.Y.-based Putnam Hospital Center broke ground on a $9 million emergency department expansion, according to the Hamlet Hub.

The 8,400-square-foot expansion will include 11 treatment bays, a new nursing station and separate entrances for ambulances and pedestrians. In addition, the project will enhance triage areas, enlarge ambulance bays and improve the parking lot.

"This project is a reaffirmation of Putnam Hospital Center's commitment to provide accessible and convenient high-quality medical services to the residents of Putnam County and beyond," Peter Kelly, Putnam Hospital's president, told the Hamlet Hub.

The ED will remain open during construction. The project is expected to be complete in 2019.
