On March 4, the patient attempted to flee through the ceiling of the emergency room where he was being treated and got stuck in a ventilation shaft.
The man climbed into a drop ceiling of the ER bathroom and breached a fire wall, which dropped him back to ground level behind a wall in the ER hallway, firefighters who responded to the call said.
He kicked and punched the drywall, eventually striking through some of the drywall with his foot. The crew then removed a large enough section of the drywall for the patient to crawl through.
It is unclear why the man tried to escape.
