20 latest hospital, health system executive moves

The following executive moves were announced or made in the last week. They are listed below, beginning with the most recent.

1. Tim Sughrue, CEO of Rapid City (S.D.) Regional Hospital and Regional Health Network and COO of Rapid City, S.D.-based Regional Health, will retire March 31.

2. San Ramon, Calif.-based Hill Physicians Medical Group CEO Darryl Cardoza will retire at the end of March.

3. James Connolly, president and CEO of Schenectady, N.Y.-based Ellis Medicine, is retiring.

4. Saundra Stevens, CEO of Adams County Regional Medical Center in Seaman, Ohio, gave notice of her intent to retire May 1.

5. Andalusia (Ala.) Regional Hospital appointed John C. Yanes CEO, effective March 2.

6. York, Pa.-based WellSpan Health appointed John M. Porter Jr. as system executive vice president and COO.

7. Philadelphia-based Jefferson announced the appointment of Joseph B. Hill as chief diversity officer.

8. Chicago-based Presence Health named Kathleen Rhine regional president and CEO of Presence St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, Ill., and Presence St. Mary's Hospital in Kankakee, Ill. Ms. Rhine succeeds Beth Hughes, who resigned from the position earlier this week.

9. Boston-based Partners HealthCare named its next CEO: David Torchiana, MD, current chairman and CEO of the Massachusetts General Physicians Organization.

10. CHI St. Luke's Health-The Woodlands (Texas) Hospital named Syed Raza, MD, as its new CMO.

11. Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, N.Y., named Candace Johnson, PhD, its first woman president and CEO. She has held the role on an interim basis since November.

12. Rulon Stacey, PhD, president and CEO of Minneapolis-based Fairview Health Services, is leaving the system March 1 due to professional differences and personal reasons.

13. Sioux Falls (S.D.) Specialty Hospital named Richard Blake Curd, MD, CEO, effective March 1.

14. Michael Sack, president CEO of Medford, Mass.-based Hallmark Health System, will retire this month after serving for 12 years at the helm.

15. Boise, Idaho-based Saint Alphonsus Health System named its interim president and CEO, Rodney Reider, the system's permanent chief.

16. Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset in Somerville, N.J., named Anthony V. Cava chief administrative officer.

17. Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital in Demopolis, Ala., named Arthur Evans CEO and administrator.

18. Santa Rosa Medical Center in Milton, Fla., named Doug Sills CEO.

19. Allentown, Pa.-based Coordinated Health appointed Greg Flanagan as CIO.

20. Highlands Medical Center in Sparta, Tenn., named Teresa Roberts, RN, CNO.
