7 healthcare CFOs in the headlines

Here are seven healthcare industry CFOs who were recently in the news.

1. Jenny Barnett-Sarpalius, senior vice president and CFO of the CHI Texas Division at Houston-based CHI St. Luke's Health, was in the news as she is stepping down from her position.

2. Brandon Bullard was in the news as he was appointed CFO of Fort Smith, Ark.-based Sparks Health System.

3. Doug True was in the news as he was named interim associate vice president and CFO of Iowa City-based University of Iowa Health Care.

4. Hickory, N.C.-based Catawba Valley Medical Center CFO David Boone was in the news as he retired from his position.

5. Zachary Smulski, former CFO of Soundpath Health in Federal Way, Wash., was in the news as he was sentenced to a year and a day in prison for embezzling funds from the insurer.

6. Ashley Rivera, CFO of Hallock, Minn.-based Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center, was in the news as he was named CEO of the system. He will now serve as both CEO and CFO.

7. Ben Spence, chief business officer and CFO of Fort Myers, Fla.-based Lee Health, was in the news discussing the system's building and equipment budget.
