An internal report concluded that Lee Health will need 1,414 adult beds available to meet increasing demand, which is 265 more than the health system currently uses.

About half of the $1.34 billion will go toward routine maintenance of buildings and equipment, while the other half will be allocated for renovations or expansions in hospitals and clinics.

“It is a large amount over 10 years, but I have confidence in our ability to manage it,” Ben Spence, chief business officer and CFO of Lee Health, told News Press.
