Under the agreement, VCU will continue to operate the facility as a children’s hospital and all employees of Children’s will become employees of VCU.

Both boards have already approved a tentative agreement, but final approval still needs to be gained, according to the report.

In 2005, the two organizations had planned to develop a children’s hospital on the VCU campus, but the plans were called off due to increasing costs, according to the report.
