Mr. Bourgeois had served as CEO since 1988.
Mr. Bourgeois was one of three victims from a shooting that occurred Thursday night. The gunman, a former employee at Oschner St. Anne, also shot and killed himself.
In a statement, New Orleans-based Ochsner Health System said its employees are shocked and saddened by the news. “Milton has been a long time member of the Ochsner family and instrumental in healthcare in our region. This is a devastating loss not only to the employees, physicians and staff of the Bayou community, but to the entire Ochsner Health System,” read the statement.
