Salem (Ore.) Hospital. Salem Hospital is licensed for 458 acute care beds and is Salem’s largest employer, with about 3,900 employees. Its active medical staff has 673 members, and the hospital boasts a volunteer corps of 460. Salem Hospital runs the busiest emergency department in the state, with 95,830 visits in 2014. The hospital holds Magnet status for nursing excellence as well as a bevy of Healthgrades awards, including the Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence, among many others.
