Stanford (Calif.) Medicine has launched a strategic partnership with Radiology Partners to advance the safety and performance of artificial intelligence tools used in clinical imaging.

The initiative is being led by Stanford Radiology’s AI Development and Evaluation Lab and focuses on developing frameworks to evaluate and monitor AI models in real-world radiology environments, according to a Jan. 28 news release. The collaboration combines Stanford’s academic expertise with Radiology Partners’ imaging experience.

Stanford faculty, practicing radiologists and data science teams will conduct joint research to translate operational insights into reproducible, peer-reviewed findings that support AI transparency, reliability and equity in clinical practice.

The partnership seeks to define evidence-based guidelines that health systems can adopt to support safe, effective and scalable use of AI in medical imaging, according to the release.
