Anthem will contribute $1,000 to the 401(k) accounts of its 58,000-plus employees and recent retirees, the insurer said Monday.

Here are three things to know about the investment program.

1. Anthem said U.S. tax reform allowed it to contribute more than $58 million to the program.

2. The insurer said it will invest additional savings from revisions in the tax code "in other efforts to reduce the cost of healthcare and benefit the consumers we serve and our shareholders."

3. Full-time, part-time and temporary employees, as well as recent retirees, are eligible for the contributions, which will be distributed March 29.
