Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina's CEO Patrick Conway, MD, said he hopes a recently mended relationship between the insurer and Asheville, N.C.-based Mission Health System will last for decades, the Citizen Times reports.
Dr. Conway's statement comes about two months after Mission Health and BCBSNC ended their monthslong contract dispute over reimbursement rates. The former CMS official joined BCBSNC Oct. 1, 2017, four days before its in-network contract with Mission Health expired.
"Our goal for Mission and health care providers generally is to have them in network so people can receive the care they need," Dr. Conway told the Citizen Times. "I do think the agreement with Mission is stable."
While Dr. Conway didn't offer specifics of BCBSNC's contract with Mission Health, he said the agreement is "essentially three years" and provides room for more collaboration between the two parties.
