St. Mary’s Health Care System to rename Ty Cobb Regional Medical Center following acquisition

Athens, Ga.-based St. Mary’s Health Care System announced Friday that Lavonia, Ga.-based Ty Cobb Regional Medical Center will be renamed St. Mary’s Sacred Heart Hospital, and that Jeff English, St. Mary’s vice president of human resources and support services, will serve as its interim president following the completion of St. Mary’s acquisition of the Lavonia hospital June 1.

The Georgia Attorney General’s office is currently reviewing the proposed sale of Ty Cobb Regional Medical Center to St. Mary’s Health Care System and the organizations are continuing final negotiations. They have no disclosed terms of the proposed sale.

Mr. English will replace Ty Cobb Regional Medical Center CEO Greg Hearn, who will continue to serve as CEO of Lavonia, Ga.-based Ty Cobb Healthcare System. TCHS will retain facilities and services not included in the sale to St. Mary’s.
