The following healthcare mergers, acquisitions and general transactions took place or were announced within the past week.

1. LifePoint signs joint venture agreement with Wisconsin hospital
Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Health signed a definitive agreement to form a joint venture with Watertown (Wis.) Regional Medical Center.

2. Tufts, Boston Medical Center call off merger talks
Boston Medical Center, the largest safety-net hospital in Massachusetts, and Tufts Medical Center in Boston scrapped their merger plans.

3. Hackensack University Health Network, Meridian Health approve merger
Hackensack (N.J.) University Health Network and Neptune, N.J-based Meridian Health signed a definitive agreement for the two health systems to merge and become Hackensack Meridian Health.

4. Marshfield Clinic Health System joining AboutHealth
Marshfield (Wis.) Clinic Health System is joining AboutHealth, the statewide healthcare organization that includes seven other health systems.

5. Nobilis acquires Victory Healthcare Plano Hospital
Houston-based Nobilis Health entered into an asset purchase agreement to acquire Victory Healthcare Plano (Texas) Hospital.

6. Kaiser eyes partnership with Maui hospital
Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente is preparing to submit a letter of interest that would allow Maui Memorial Medical Center, which is part of Hawaii Health Systems Corp., to consider it for a public private partnership.
