Under the proposed combination, Navicent Health will become a part of Atrium Health. The goal of the merger is to allow both institutions the opportunity to share best practices and build upon their individual clinical, operational and technological investments in population and community health.
With the letter of intent, the organizations will engage in more detailed discussions and due diligence during the next several months.
News of the proposed transaction comes roughly one day after Atrium Health announced its decision to change its brand. Officials said the rebranding reflects the health system’s evolution from a single hospital to a 40-hospital system with a strong regional footprint.
