The news was not well-received by Parkview competitor Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick, which also has made moves to acquire the 55-bed Parkview but has been blocked for now by state regulators who refused to examine competing proposals claiming state law bars them from doing so.
CMH filed a letter of intent to acquire Parkview in 2008 but allowed it to expire a year later after public protest. It tried again in June 2012 and submitted a full application in August, with lots of public sentiment on both sides of the issue, according to the Sun Journal.
