Sen. Sanders puts pressure on GOP senators during weekend rallies

Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., went on a weekend tour of Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia to rally support against the Senate GOP’s proposed healthcare bill, according to The Columbus Dispatch.

“At a time when so many people are hurting, this legislation will cause devastating pain to millions of American families,” Mr. Sanders told a Columbus, Ohio, crowd Sunday. Rob Portman, R-Ohio, has been one of the most vocal moderate critics of GOP healthcare plans because of cuts to Medicaid, but it is unclear how he will vote on the Senate’s bill.

Republicans need only 50 votes to pass the bill, thanks to a tie-breaking vote from Vice President Mike Pence, but because of criticism from both moderates and conservatives within the party, the bill’s passage is far from guaranteed.
