Though President Donald Trump campaigned on the promise he would do nothing to reform Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security, Mr. Ryan said President Trump is now open to looking at long-term reform that would not take effect any time soon.
“From all my conversations with the president, he says ‘I don’t want to change Medicare benefits for people in or near retirement,’ and we agree with that,” Mr. Ryan said, according to CNN.

“I’ve been a big time entitlement reformer for a long time because if you don’t start bending the curve in the out years, we are hosed,” Mr. Ryan said.
