WVU Medicine hospital CEO to retire

Steve Altmiller will be retiring as president and CEO of WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center in Parkersburg, W.Va.

Mr. Altmiller’s retirement is effective Aug. 31, according to a news release from the hospital’s parent organization, Morgantown, W.Va.-based WVU Medicine. 

Sean Smith, president of New Martinsville, W.Va.-based WVU Medicine Wetzel County Hospital, a role he’s held since January 2021, and the COO of Camden Clark, will succeed Mr. Altmiller, according to the release.

Mr. Altmiller took the helm of Camden Clark in January 2018. During his tenure, the hospital expanded with the opening of its new Southgate Medical Complex in south Parkersburg last September, according to the release.

Before joining Camden Clark, Mr. Altmiller served as president and CEO of Good Shepherd Health System in Longview, Texas.
