Here are four things to know about Dr. DiPaola.
1. He is director of the New Brunswick-based Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey and vice chancellor for cancer programs at the Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences, with locations in Newark, N.J., New Brunswick, Piscataway, N.J., and Camden, N.J.
2. He is expected to begin his new position in March, pending approval from the University of Kentucky Board of Trustees.
3. Dr. DiPaola earned bachelor’s and medical degrees at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.
4. Dr. DiPaola’s hire comes as Bernard Boulanger, MD, CMO of Lexington-based University of Kentucky HealthCare, accepted a job as executive vice president of MetroHealth System in Cleveland. Dr. Boulanger has been at the UK health system for 17 years, according to the report. He previously served as a trauma surgeon, medical director of inpatient services and executive of Lexington-based Good Samaritan Hospital.
