West Des Moines, Iowa-based UnityPoint Health has appointed two executives to lead its oncology services across Iowa and the Midwest.
Gregory Kennedy, MD, PhD, has been named chief medical officer for oncology, effective in February. Dr. Kennedy joins UnityPoint Health from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he serves as the John H. Blue Chair of General Surgery and director of the cancer network for the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center.
MarCia Ekworomadu will also begin her new role as vice president of operations in January. She most recently served as executive director of service line strategy at UnityPoint Health.
Dr. Kennedy and Ms. Ekworomadu will oversee efforts to align, expand and strengthen UnityPoint’s oncology strategy in response to growing demand for integrated cancer care across the region, according to a Dec. 2 news release.
