UC Davis Health taps top executive from Chicago system

Mark Rosenblatt, MD, PhD, has been appointed vice chancellor of human health sciences, overseeing Sacramento, Calif.-based UC Davis Health, effective Jan. 19.

As an internationally recognized clinician-scientist, Dr. Rosenblatt joins UC Davis Health from Chicago-based University of Illinois Hospital and Clinics, where he has served as CEO since July 2024 and previously as interim CEO since September 2023.

He also serves as the G. Stephen Irwin executive dean at the University of Illinois College of Medicine and is a distinguished professor of ophthalmology and visual sciences at the University of Illinois Chicago.

In his new role, he will oversee UC Davis Health — which includes UC Davis Medical Center, UC Davis Children’s Hospital and UC Davis Rehabilitation Hospital — according to an Oct. 22 university news release.

Dr. Rosenblatt will also lead the UC Davis School of Medicine and the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing, as well as 17 primary care clinics.
