Texas system hires HCA hospital CEO as next chief

Kerrville, Texas-based Peterson Health has selected John McDonald as its next president and CEO, effective June 2025.

Mr. McDonald joined Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare in 2015, most recently serving as CEO of Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, Mo., according to an April 8 health system news release.

He succeeds Cory Edmondson, who stepped down Feb. 7 to become president and CEO of Wichita Falls, Texas-based United Regional Health Care System.

Peterson Health includes the 124-bed Peterson Regional Medical Center, along with ambulatory, hospice and home care services.
